Pennsylvania Pride Grown
Cary Award Winners

A selection of woody shrubs & trees uniquely chosen for the New England & Mid-Atlantic growing season

Named after Ed Cary, a humble nursery owner and true "plantsman" from Shewsbury, MA, the Cary Award is presented each year by the Worcester County Horticultural Society. Ed spent much of his life growing and experimenting with new plants and sharing his discoveries with the public. After his death in 1987, Cary left a portion of his estate to the Society. As a way to honor his memory, they established the Cary Award to draw attention to the many unusual and underused varieties Ed Cary held in such high regard.

When you are looking for hardy plants of distinction, choose Pennsylvania Pride grown Cary Award winners. While the list of species may be unfamiliar to most home gardeners, these winners have proven their performance, hardiness and outstanding eye-appeal, and will be a welcome addition to New England and Mid-Atlantic landscapes!

The Cary Award logo appears on the Pennsylvania Pride picture tags of all Cary Award varieties - look for it and join us in supporting this outstanding program!
